Moving in faith

We were headed to the well. It sometimes takes us volunteers longer to get ready to leave the truck than the workers and they go ahead. I had paused to take a picture and then continued on the way. I could hear the commotion and our workers so I wasn’t worried about getting lost.

The pathways had another idea. They start in one direction and then turn and sometimes you have to take one that starts in the wrong direction…
I could tell I was close. They were just ‘over there’. And the path was headed down toward a stream. It looked wide and dirty and I figured I’d missed a turn to get to a crossing.
There was a young boy in front of me and he was headed forward but I thought he’d be ok just walking through the water. So I called out. ‘Which way?’ That’s right, keep going, was the response. ‘Are you sure? This leads to water…’ Yes, keep going.
And so I did. Still convinced I was going to find a dead end.
Just as I reached the water there was a turn and behind the bank and the reeds there were logs across the water. A path had appeared.
It was always there, I just couldn’t see it. Step by step we move forward. We can’t see the whole journey. We have to trust that there is a way. Hard to do, but sometimes the only way we’ll get where we need to be.
